The Program of African Studies

Guiding the study of Africa at Áñ—†ÊÓƵ, the Program of African Studies (PAS) hosts scholars and distinguished visitors from the African continent and around the world. Throughout the year, PAS sponsors events such as talks, discussions, readings, and films.

Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies

The Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies is a distinguished collection of Africana that has become an integral part of the legacy of Africa and the African diaspora. Serving Áñ—†ÊÓƵ faculty, students, and more than a thousand U.S. and international scholars each year, the Herskovits Library is the largest separate collection of Africana in existence.

Medill Journalism Residency South Africa

The South Africa Journalism Residency Áñ—†ÊÓƵ provides a unique and exciting opportunity for Medill students to live and work in Africa for 11 weeks while completing degree requirements. Journalism Residency placements in South Africa are available in magazine, newspaper/online, and broadcast/video.
