Facility Safety Policies
- Norris is a smoke-free building.
- Paint is strictly prohibited in and around Norris, except in ARTica.
- No helium balloons are permitted indoors across all Norris-managed spaces.
- No balloons may be suspended from the ceiling.
- No affixing any adhesive materials, including tape, stickers, or similar items, to any surface in or around Norris.
- Bicycles, scooters, and roller skates are not allowed in the building.
- Neither event equipment nor people may block corridors or the safe passage of patrons throughout the building.
- Furniture should not be rearranged in a way that prevents safe egress throughout the building.
- Guests/Clients are not allowed to bring in heat-producing items, such as those used for food preparation, matches, candles, space heaters, hot plates, etc.
Reserving Space
- Spaces within Norris and Norris Satellite Venues can be reserved through Norris Event Planning.
Filming
- Filming inside of Norris requires prior approval from Norris Event Planning.
- Filming outside of Norris is permitted so long as employees and patrons inside the building are not visible
Food & Beverages
- All food and beverages for events in Norris must be coordinated through and abide by all Compass policies. Any event found breaking this policy will be fined.
- Only events in the Guild Lounge may use non-Compass catering. Please reach out to Event Planning for further details.
Soliciting
- All salespersons and solicitors, including canvassers, distributors, and students conducting charitable drives, must obtain permission from the Norris Center Events Planning Office.
- Any person without appropriate permission will be reported to the University Police and asked to leave campus.
Postings, Flyers, & Advertising Within Norris
- Norris offers a general Community Posting Board located near the West Main Entrance, near the revolving door. This is the only acceptable location for flyers and unpaid advertisements.
- Only 1 copy of each posting is permitted. Duplicates will be removed.
- All flyers will be removed on Sunday evenings.
- Taping or hanging posters, flyers, or event advertisements throughout the building is not allowed, as it causes damage to Norris’ walls/surfaces. Any posters/flyers found taped or attached to surfaces in Norris will be immediately removed. Norris Operations will then contact the group listed on the flyer.

Service Animals
- Only service animals as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) are allowed in the building.

Student Organization Storage Policies
- Norris Operations manages and maintains Student Organization Storage in Norris for groups registered with SOA. New access to space is only granted during the application cycle in the Spring.

Lost Items
- Items found within the building will be held at the Norris Center Desk for 30 days. Guests can claim lost items by visiting the Norris Center Desk at any time the building is open. Any items left for more than 30 days will be donated or disposed of.
Packages
- Packages sent to 1999 Campus Drive will either be held by the Norris Center Desk or will be delivered to Norris’ Loading Dock.
- While it is our pleasure to hold your item(s) for pickup, we do not take custody of said item(s).
- Norris Administration reserves the right to open and/or dispose of packages left at Norris for over 30 days.

Operations
The Operations team manages the building operations and serves as the main point of contact for all building needs in the Norris University Center. The team consists of approximately 30 student employees, working as Center Managers and Center Desk Attendants, along with the full-time Operations Manager.
