Academic Year Billing

When you study abroad, you will pay your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ's costs, not Áñ—†ÊÓƵ costs. Your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ invoice will continue to be issued through CAESAR on the regular quarterly schedule each quarter you are abroad. It will look somewhat different than usual and will vary based on your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ and quarter(s) spent abroad.

Financial aid recipients may be able to use Áñ—†ÊÓƵ financial aid and/or loans toward the payment of charges outside of CAESAR.

Partner Programs

Your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ invoice will include your study abroad Áñ—†ÊÓƵ's tuition and the Áñ—†ÊÓƵ Study Abroad Administrative Fee (SAAF). Some Áñ—†ÊÓƵs will bill you through CAESAR for a comprehensive Áñ—†ÊÓƵ fee, which may include housing and other charges, while other Áñ—†ÊÓƵs will bill you directly for these costs. Visit your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ page to see Áñ—†ÊÓƵ-specific billing details. If you Áñ—†ÊÓƵ any questions about an invoice you Áñ—†ÊÓƵ received from your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ sponsor, or believe you may Áñ—†ÊÓƵ received an invoice in error, please contact the Financial Aid Office, for clarification or further instructions.

Áñ—†ÊÓƵ Programs

For Áñ—†ÊÓƵ Áñ—†ÊÓƵs, your invoice will include your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ fee, which includes at least your tuition and housing abroad. Review your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ materials or visit your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ page for Áñ—†ÊÓƵ-specific money matters details.

If you will be attending a Áñ—†ÊÓƵ exchange Áñ—†ÊÓƵ, your invoice will only include your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ tuition for your quarter(s) abroad. You will pay directly for housing and other charges abroad.

Áñ—†ÊÓƵ Áñ—†ÊÓƵs are exempt from the Áñ—†ÊÓƵ SAAF.

Áñ—†ÊÓƵ Exchange Programs

For Áñ—†ÊÓƵ exchange Áñ—†ÊÓƵs, your invoice will only include your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ tuition for your quarter(s) abroad. You will pay directly for housing and other charges abroad.

Áñ—†ÊÓƵ exchanges are exempt from the Áñ—†ÊÓƵ SAAF.

Independent Programs

Áñ—†ÊÓƵ will only bill you through CAESAR for the Independent Study Abroad Administrative Fee (SAAF) for the term(s) you are abroad. All other charges, including tuition, room/board, etc., should be paid directly to your study abroad Áñ—†ÊÓƵ sponsor or host university. Áñ—†ÊÓƵ's prepayment plan cannot be used for independent Áñ—†ÊÓƵ charges.

No financial aid or loans are available for independent Áñ—†ÊÓƵs.

Understanding Your NU Invoice (2023-2024)

Your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ invoice each quarter will display the regular full-time Áñ—†ÊÓƵ tuition charge of $21,629, along with a study abroad differential charge or credit, increasing or decreasing your total Áñ—†ÊÓƵ-billed charges to make your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ invoice equal your study abroad Áñ—†ÊÓƵ's tuition or Áñ—†ÊÓƵ fee. If applicable, your invoice will also include the Study Abroad Administrative Fee (SAAF) for your quarter(s) abroad. If you will be abroad for more than one quarter, your charges will be split across both/all quarters abroad.

If your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ invoice will include your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ's comprehensive fee, your total charges will still appear as tuition and a study abroad differential on your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ invoice; you will not see an itemized breakdown of the individual charges included in your Áñ—†ÊÓƵ fee (e.g., tuition, housing, meals, etc.) in CAESAR.
